Chiropractor Glendive MT Tracy Gabbert

"My decision to become a chiropractor was one that came naturally to me."

I felt I had a special talent of being able to work with people and their bodies. Having grown up in a very Chiropractic oriented family and having had chiropractic care most all of my life, I felt very comfortable with this decision. One of the first weekends I came home, while attending Chiropractic school, my Mom related my Chiropractic story.

When I was 2 years of age, I had come down with severe respiratory problems. So my parents took me to our family Medical Doctor who diagnosed me with Pneumonia. So we began the care he recommended. On the first follow-up visit I was no better, so the doctor changed the care plan. On the subsequent follow-up visit I was getting worse rather than better. So, as arrogant as some doctors were in those days he suggested that maybe we should go see old Doc Norem (our family Chiropractor).

My parents thought; “Why didn’t we think of that?” So they took me to Doc Norem and within 2 weeks they had their healthy boy back, never to have any respiratory problems the rest of his childhood. This changed my parent’s level of thinking a whole lot & my Mom said that from that point on she had my younger brothers and sister checked as soon as they were born.

She told me that she could count on her 2 hands the number of times she ever had to take one of us to the Medical Doctor. That is quite remarkable as there were 9 of us.

Chiropractic as a Career

I have chosen to devote my life to the healing arts because I see a very similar alignment with the Christian value system I was raised in and the philosophy of Chiropractic. I am grateful I did so because I have seen many lives changed with the specific Chiropractic adjustment.

Chiropractic Education

Providing quality care to a young patient.

I began my pre-Chiropractic education at Dickinson State College where I studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses. After completing my study there, I was accepted at Northwestern College of Chiropractic in St. Paul, MN.

During my four years at Northwestern, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Northwestern College Public Clinic.

During my first year at NWCC I was introduced to Dr. Clarence Gonstead from Mt. Horeb, WI. I became heavily involved in learning this technique of specific adjusting and use it exclusively today. After graduating in 1978, I went to Laurel, Montana to practice with Dr. Gary Pfaff.

Healthy Habits

Of all the things I do to keep as healthy as possible, regular Chiropractic care for myself, my wife, my kids and grandkids is the most important thing to me. That being said I try to get my spine and NERVE SYSTEM checked weekly. I check my wife weekly and encourage my sons and their families to get checked weekly as well.

Sometimes it just doesn’t logistically work out for me to get checked weekly and it may be 2 weeks, but never longer than that. I believe in staying physically active no matter what season it is. In the summer I golf almost daily and I walk the course, I very seldom ride in a cart. In the fall and winter I like to hunt and I do a lot of walking during this season. I do not own a snow thrower, because I enjoy the physical work of shoveling snow (I have an ergonomic handle on my shovel) and I do a lot of it. And, no matter what season it is you will see riding my bike to work (yes even in the winter sometimes).

Being I do not always eat as healthy as I should I make sure to supplement my diet with proper nutritional supplements. You’ll find a wide variety of these in our home, but no aspirin or other pain relievers, no antihistamines and no cough medicine. Nope, nothing that will suppress the body’s natural attempt to rid itself of a bug of any kind.

On a personal note…

I was born in Dickinson, North Dakota to Arlos & Vivian Gabbert on November 18, 1953. I have 6 brothers and 2 sisters: Dave, Vernon, Wayne, Penny, ME, Sandy, Dean, Kevin and Lanny (also a chiropractor).

After moving to Montana, I met and married my wife, Cindy Riesinger. We were married on August 16, 1980. From this marriage were born 2 sons, Tyler Paul & Caleb Lee. Tyler married Jeni Heuther on March 2, 2002 in Dickinson, North Dakota. To this marriage 5 children have been born, Emma Gabrielle, Makenna Celestyne, Corbin Aeolus Paul, Jace Warren Arnold & Gage Ryker Lee. Caleb married Megan Dow on May 30, 2003. Sadly, the couple is no longer together; but we are still blessed that to this marriage 2 children were born, James Caleb & William Lee.

I enjoy golf, hunting, fishing, camping, officiating volleyball, watching sports on TV, as well as going to watch my favorite professional sports team the Minnesota Twins. Even our grandchildren have come to enjoy going to these games. It is these grandchildren that my wife and I enjoy the most.
